Stitches was originally a hero named Sap who had the ability to absorb the powers of others and release the energy as a sticky glue like substance.
Sap was part of a task force whose objective was to stop a magical villain who used teleportation to travel in and out of bank vaults. During the apprehension of the criminal a portal was opened by accident(Dimension X) and the villain was pulled through the opening by unseen forces. Sap and three other heroes entered Dimension X to recover the villain, but became lost in the void. Three months later, two of the heroes emerged. Sap was comatose and the other hero barely had enough strength to drag him back home.
Later it was discovered that Sap’s body had been populated by creatures made from shadow and mist. If his body is cut the creatures escape to feed on fear and misery. The number of creatures that inhabit the vessel are so dense, it is wondered if the hero known as Sap even exists inside of his body anymore.

- Stitches has the ability to create physical manifestations of an individuals fears or nightmares
- The creatures that inhabit Stitches' body feed on dark energy produced from nightmares
- It's theorized, Stitches' body can only open in so many places at once. If the cut is too large the host body could possibly be destroyed. Whether or not the creatures would die with the host is unknown
